ACTON — Acton police are investigating a reported $8,000 in damages to two new homes under construction as part of a subdivision called Dunham Lane off High Street.

A 38-year-old Littleton man working for the construction company Bentley Builders reported the damage to the police on Sunday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m.

The contractor said that both of the newly constructed houses were entered into and damaged sometime between Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, May 19 at 5:32 p.m.

Patrolman Luke Penney and Sgt. Raymond Grey of the Acton police responded to the scene.

According to police reports, the perpetrator entered one of the new houses, known as " Lot 11, " through a basement window.

According to the reports, there were 20 spindles broken on the banister leading up the stairway; a hole punched into a wall; and some type of purple liquid sprayed on the wall.

On the second floor, the ceiling had been kicked down from the attic as evident from a clear boot print on the sheetrock, which was kept as evidence.

In the second house, known as " Lot 1, " Patrolman Penney observed two heating ducts ripped down that run from the ceiling to the floor.

According to police reports, someone had also defecated in a rear living room.

Patrolman Penney retrieved a Bud Light beer can that had been found in this rear living room for possible fingerprints.

On the second floor of this house, a heating coil was ripped from a wall and strung across the length of the house.

Sergeant Grey photographed the scene, and the piece of Sheetrock and the beer can were tagged and placed in an evidence locker.

The contractor estimated that it will cost around $8,000 to fix the damage, according to police reports.

The contractor also stated that this was the second time that vandalism had occurred on the property.
